* Graduated optics via “Guild Course” for Optical Dispensers in 1979

* Initially placed in retail laboratory learning about lens grinding ,finishing and quality control

* Worked for 8 years at OPSM retail in city stores, large and small and country practices as relief manager.

* Progression to Protector Sureguard Industrial Division implementing and co-ordinating “on site” visits to facilitate work environment safety programs for both vision and hearing , the fitting of rx safety eyewear etc. Vision screening and hearing loss evaluation and education programs.

* Teacher at TAFE Ultimo of Optical Dispensing Practical and Theory.

* Left optics and developed a grinding and polishing machine finishing process to repair chipped high quality lead crystal drinking glasses, holding repair contracts with Sydney’s leading hotels.

* Joined small independent group of practices and purchased a share.

* Purchased my own store outright when group disbanded

* Provided retail optical dispensing services to private patients as part of the Royal Flying Doctor Service to remote areas via Ophthalmologist’s visits to regional hospitals

* Expanded single store to four city and country stores with two under management with partner Optometrist.

* Successfully runs Peter Baker Optical located in Caringbah for 20 years, a boutique independent store offering quality eyewear and service.
